I'm originally from the mining town of Mansfield in the East Midlands. After various stints of employment I travelled to Australia in my twenties and through various twists and turns ended up riding back from there on a 105cc Australian Post bike named Dorothy. I wrote a book about that trip, plus the subsequent trip across America and up to Alaska on the same bike.
In the few years that have followed I took up employment with Adventure Bike Rider magazine, editing that for over a year, before going freelance and currently writing for several mainstream titles here in the UK. I also do occasional stints on Adventure Bike TV and give presentations at various bike clubs and events.
